Yeezy 2020?
Days after announcing his huge partnership with Gap, Kanye West made another announcement. He is “running” for President of the United States. There was already some serious discussion about Kanye in 2024, but this was a news breaker. When tweeting his declaration of candidacy he stated “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future.” Don’t get me wrong I would find it quite interesting seeing Kanye in 2020, he would however have some challenges. He first needs to file his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and there has not been any evidence that he has done that. Also, he would be forced to run as an Independent since the Republican and Democratic parties have their nominations. As well he has missed the deadline to file as an Independent in most states putting him at a huge disadvantage amongst the other candidates.
However, Kanye does have the support of his wife Kim Kardashian. Kim has said in many articles that she has full support of Kanye's political aspirations. She even retweeted his tweet and commented with an American flag. Kim also could help play a role in Kanye getting young people to vote, especially the young male voters. He also has the support of Elon Musk which could come in handy in regards to campaigning. Will Kim’s good looks and Elon’s help be enough for Kanye to get into office? It will be interesting to see if Kanye follows through. I will also be interested in seeing what his policies and practices would be. At the end of the day for better or for worse seeing Kanye West take the oath of office would be an incredible site.
