Dick Vitale Mask Madness

Oh Dickie V, you are something. The 81-year-old ESPN college basketball broadcaster best known for his diaper dandies and quick one-liners made headlines this past weekend. While in his hometown of Sarasota, Florida, he went out into the city to try to show the lack of social distancing and mask-wearing that was going on. Oh, before I go on, if anyone sees his videos of him on Instagram in his hot tub wearing his ESPN polo and thinks it's weird… you can leave. That is the DEFINITION of an alpha move!  Transitioning back to the story, he went into town and had his mask on trying to tell everyone to be safe and put a video out on Instagram. The problem with the video was that he did not have his mask on the right way and social media immediately began to criticize him. “Oh Dickie V had his mask on wrong”, “You criticize others while your mask is on wrong”, “Lol what a dumbass”. Those were some of the comments I read.

He then proceeded to apologize in a video the next day and continued to promote the health guidelines issued by the CDC. Listen, all I am saying is that to everyone who gave him shit, give the man a break. He had good intentions and simply made a mistake. At the end of the day, we all love the man and he truly cares about everyone. Yeah, I will admit it was pretty funny at first, but the berating needs to dial down a little bit.  Dick Vitale is an icon.  He has mentioned numerous times that his lifelong dream is to broadcast a college basketball game on ESPN at 100 years old. Now that Dickie V knows his mistake, I think he knows how to put the mask on and he is very adamant about social distancing, he could maybe one day achieve that dream of hopping on ESPN at 100 years old. At the end of the day he is still and will always be “AWESOME BABY”!!
